Loss Damage Waiver/Responsibility for Vehicle Damage - Loss Damage Waiver is not Insurance and is not mandatory.

If you accept full LDW by your initials on the rental document at the daily rate, for each full or partial day the cars is rented to you, and the car is operated in accordance with this agreement, we assume all loss or damage to the car, except, if permitted by law, for lost, damaged or stolen keys or remote entry devices, towing or tire service unless related to an accident, or recovery of the car if stolen, and except for your amount of responsibility, if any, specified on the rental document

Partial Loss Damage Waiver  (PDW) is not available in Canada.

If you do not purchase Loss Damage Waiver, you are responsible for all damage to the rented vehicle.

Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) is not available in Canada.

Personal Accident Insurance / Effects Coverage - provides accidental, medical, death and dismemberment benefits for bodily injury resulting from an auto accident. PAE also provides benefits from loss or damage to certain personal property while in the rented vehicle. See brochure at the location for further details.

The following are accepted forms of payment: American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard and Visa.

Credit Card Hold:  The minimum credit hold is $500.  If the estimated total is above $500, an authorization on your credit card will be placed for the entire amount of the rental.  Unused authorizations will be released upon return of the vehicle.

Stored Value/Prepaid/Gift Cards are not acceptable to qualify for rental.

These funds will no longer be available for your immediate use and may take up to 14 days, depending on your bank, to become available.  We will not be responsible for any returned checks or insufficient fund charges or bank fees related to this process.

Debit Cards are not accepted at time of check-out for any type of vehicle.

All drivers must meet the renting location's minimum age requirements, have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and present a major credit card in his/her own name at the time of rental.  All customers must also present a second form of ID.  Please refer to the Additional Information topic for details.U.S. driver's licenses are valid in Canada. 

Proof of auto insurance is required.  U.S. auto insurance is accepted as long as an individual is a visitor in Canada.  U.S. insurance firms will issue a Canadian insurance card, which should be obtained and carried prior to driving into Canada.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR RENTERS FROM COUNTRIES OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES & CANADA.

-Must have a valid drivers license from renters/drivers country of origin. 
-Must have a valid passport.
-Must have a valid international drivers license if the drivers license of origin is not in Roman alphabet.

All drivers must meet minimum age requirements, present a valid photo drivers license and credit card in his/her own name. All location policies that apply to the renter will also apply to the additional driver. The additional driver fee is $10 CAD per day/per driver with a maximum of $100 per driver. 

Additional Authorized Drivers for Vision Impaired Renters - A traveling companion who will serve as a driver for the visually impaired renter will be authorized at no additional charge. Drivers must meet our age requirements and possess a valid drivers license. Please advise the Payless representative at the time of rental. Both must be present at the time of the transaction.

Taxes, Fees and Surcharges will vary by location and are included in your approximate total.

A Frequent Flyer Surcharge or excise tax will be assessed in connection with miles requested for your Payless car rental.

For vehicle Groups: F (Intermediate), G (Premium), H (Luxury), K (Convertible), P (Full Size Pickup), W (Standard), L (Full Size SUV), Z (Premium SUV) and all Group X (Specialty Vehicles).

At locations in Canada, you may be asked to provide an additional form of identification as a condition to rent a vehicle. Acceptable forms of additional identification are: 

• Military ID
• Certificate of Indian Status
• Canadian passport
• Canadian Permanent Resident Card
• Foreign passport that meets the requirements
• Nexus or Fast/Express card
• Non-driver's license issued by a province or territory
• ID card issued by the federal government, provincial or territorial government
• Credit card (other than the one being used for payment of rental) in Customer's name

Vehicles may be returned after hours to the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 33 Carlson Court, Toronto, ON. Take the keys to the front reception desk, and the Crowne Plaza hotel shuttle will provide service back to the airport. Final receipts will be forwarded via email.  An after hours return fee of $20 will be applied to your rental. Please consult with the Payless Service Representative at the time of rental for complete details.

***Through June 30, 2020, the underage surcharge is waived in participating locations in all states EXCEPT Maryland, Michigan and New York.  The minimum age requirements remain the same.  The underage surcharge will apply for rentals beginning on or after July 01, 2020.***

Renter must be 25 years of age with a valid drivers license and a major credit card in his/her own name.
Ages 21-24  years of age may rent Economy Compact, Intermediate, Standard and Full sized cars with an additional $25.00 per day surcharge.

Additional drivers are not permitted on underage rentals.

Reservations to request disability equipment should be placed only by calling 1-800-PAYLESS

Hand controls are provided at no additional cost (not all make/models will accommodate hand controls).

Availability of special equipment must be verified before the reservation can be confirmed.

If you require special equipment to operate the vehicle, please contact us at 1-800-PAYLESS. We will process your request and send a confirmation response within 72 hours after verifying availability with the renting location.

ADDITIONAL AUTHORIZED DRIVERS FOR VISION IMPAIRED RENTERS: A traveling companion who will serve as a driver for the visually impaired renter will be authorized at no additional charge. Drivers must be at least 25 years of age and possess a valid drivers license. Please advise the Payless representative of the companion driver at the time of rental. Both must be present at the time of the transaction.

If you purchase our Extended Roadside Assistance we will waive all, or a portion of, the cost of a roadside assistance service call.

You may purchase Extended Roadside Assistance at $9.99 per rental day with benefits including - Emergency road service towing - jump start, flat tire change and replacement, lockout service, emergency fuel delivery, lost keys and front windshield replacement. Vehicle is rented with a full tank. You may bring the vehicle back full to avoid a charge or Payless will refuel your vehicle based on the miles driven or level of the tank. A refueling fee will apply per litre. 

Location must be notified at time of rental when driving out of the originating province. Failure to notify location may result in additional penalties.

One-Way: One way rentals are not permitted at this location. Unauthorized one-way rentals will be subject to a surcharge.

Rental is based on a 24-hour period. The client receives a 29-minute grace period. If he/she keeps the vehicle after this time an hourly rate will apply from minute one.

Unlimited kilometers apply to airline arriving customers only. Unlimited kilometers do not apply for local rentals. Local residents receive 200 free kilometers per day, 1,400 kilometers per week, and 4,000 kilometers (maximum) on any rental exceeding 3 weeks and $0.20 CAD for each additional kilometer driven during the entire rental.
BORDER CROSSING: Vehicles entering the USA are subject to a border crossing fee of $13.00 CAD per day, kilometers are limited to 200 kilometers per day, 1,400 kilometers per week and 4,000 kilometers per month (maximum) for rentals exceeding 3 weeks, and $0.20 CAD for each additional kilometer driven during your entire rental.

Payless Car has initiated an enhanced inspection process to help ensure a pleasant rental experience for all. Each vehicle will be confirmed "smoke-free" when it is provided to a customer. Upon it's return, it will be inspected. If it is determined that the vehicle must be cleaned of smoke odor and residue, the renter will be assessed a fee of up to $250.00.

You are responsible for paying all parking and traffic violations incurred while using the vehicle. If you incur a violation during the rental our agent will process and bill you for fines associated with the violations. In addition to any violation fees you will also be charged a $35.00 plus HST Administration fee per violation. These items will be billed directly to the credit card that was used for the rental transaction.  Charges will appear as a separate line item on your credit card or bank statement and an invoice will be mailed to the address on the rental agreement. Debit Card Hold: We do not accept debit cards at the beginning of the rental for holds. They can only be used upon return of the vehicle for payment.

Cash rentals are not accepted.

Rentals not extended will incur a $15 per day late fee.

Rentals cannot exceed 30 days.

Rentals above 30 days will incur a $15 per day late fee.

You must call the location directly to extend your rental prior to the due date and time.

If extended, additional authorization will be taken if the new amount is above the original authorization.

It is the policy of Payless to have the confirmed vehicle available for calendar day of the scheduled arrival.

Child Seats - Infant/Toddler/Booster -  $13.00 per day, $65 max

GPS - $7.00 per day
